Poultry

Our chickens and eggs are fresh and organic.  We do not use medicated feeds or antibiotics with our chickens.  Our chickens are free ranged so   they can eat all the things that make their meat firm and tasty.  Our egg laying flock consists of  Heritage breeds of Chicken as outlined in the ALBC Conservation Priority List (http://www.albc-usa.org/cpl/wtchlist.html#chickens).  ,which includes Rhode Island Reds, Dominique, and New Hampshire Red chickens.  For more information and availability, please visit our poultry page.

American Guinea Hogs

We chose to raise the American Guinea Hogs at Weksny Acres partly out of a desire to do our part in preserving what at one time, was an integral part of our country’s farm history. Also, a breed such as the American Guinea Hog could be of critical importance, if parasite and disease resistance adversely affects the commercial hog industry, like it already starting to do. In many areas, genetic diversity needs be maintained to help meet the potential challenge resulting from changes in production resources and market requirements. We are proud to own foundation breeding stock of American Guinea Hogs. At present, there are only about 800 registered Guinea Hogs.  For more information on this critically endangered breed, please visit our American Guinea Hog page.

Produce and Herbs

All of the produce and herbs that we grow here for both ourselves and are customers are heirloom or open-pollinated.  We believe that to be good stewards of the land, we must nurture and care for it. We do not add any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or additives of any kind, in the production of our produce.
